About the Unit Converter
The World Utility Hub Unit Converter makes it simple to convert measurements across seven categories: length, weight, temperature, volume, speed, area, and a dedicated Height & Body tab for compound measurements. Whether you are converting a recipe from cups to millilitres, checking a road distance in miles versus kilometres, or entering your height for a fitness app that asks for centimetres, this tool handles it all instantly — no button press needed.
The Height & Body tab is purpose-built for the way people actually describe themselves. Height as feet and inches, body weight as stones and pounds, and baby or postal weights as pounds and ounces are all supported with dedicated two-field inputs. Enter your values and results appear immediately in all equivalent units. A reverse converter is also included in each mode — so if you know your height in centimetres and want it in feet and inches, just enter the cm value and the answer appears instantly.
All other categories use a single-value converter with two dropdowns and a swap button. Type a value, choose your units, and the result appears instantly. Typing in the result field converts in the opposite direction. The swap button flips both units at once so you never have to reselect manually.
Length and Distance
Covers millimetres, centimetres, metres, and kilometres on the metric side, plus inches, feet, yards, miles, and nautical miles. Useful for everything from sewing measurements to running distances to aviation navigation.
Weight and Mass
Supports milligrams, grams, kilograms, and metric tonnes alongside ounces, pounds, stones, and US short tons. The Weight tab handles single-unit conversions, while the Height & Body tab handles stones+pounds and pounds+ounces as compound inputs.
Temperature
Converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin using the correct non-linear formulas. Celsius and Fahrenheit are the units people encounter daily; Kelvin is used in science and engineering. At −40 degrees the two everyday scales happen to be equal — a useful fact to know.
Volume, Speed, and Area
Volume covers millilitres, litres, US cups, US and imperial gallons, fluid ounces, pints, quarts, and cubic measurements. Speed covers m/s, km/h, mph, ft/s, and knots. Area covers square centimetres, square metres, hectares, square kilometres, square feet, square yards, acres, and square miles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a separate Height & Body tab?
Height is almost always expressed as feet and inches combined, not as a single number. A standard single-unit converter cannot accept “5 feet 1 inch” as an input. The Height & Body tab uses two separate fields for feet and inches, stones and pounds, or pounds and ounces — the way people naturally think about these measurements.
How do I convert my height from cm to feet and inches?
Open the Height & Body tab, make sure Height (ft + in) is selected, and use the reverse section at the bottom of the panel. Enter your height in centimetres and your feet and inches result appears instantly.
Why is temperature different from the other categories?
Most conversions are linear — multiply by a fixed factor. Temperature is different because Celsius and Fahrenheit have different zero points, so the formula is C = (F − 32) × 5/9. The converter applies this correctly regardless of which direction you convert.
What is the difference between a US gallon and an imperial gallon?
A US gallon is approximately 3.785 litres while an imperial gallon is approximately 4.546 litres. They are not the same, and using the wrong one — especially for fuel economy calculations — gives a meaningfully different result. The Volume tab includes both clearly labelled.
Can I type in the result field to convert backwards?
Yes. On the standard tabs (Length, Weight, Temperature, Volume, Speed, Area) you can type directly into the To field and the From field will update with the reverse conversion. The Height & Body tab has a dedicated reverse section built into each mode.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes. The converter is fully responsive and all controls are easy to tap on a smartphone or tablet. The layout adapts automatically on smaller screens.
